Public-Private Partnership delivery model
Weeks to build
Hutchinson Builders was selected by Living & Learning Custodians to join the consortium that successfully secured the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) with University of Wollongong to develop these student residences. The newly completed project located on Northfields Avenue at UOW delivers a unique and contemporary accommodation solution that complements the strengths and qualities of the campus. With a total of 1054 beds across four buildings in two locations, the facility is focused on the integration of learning and social opportunities in a residential context.
The 254 bed Northfields building is custom-designed to cater to postgraduate accommodation. The seven storey facility wraps around a north facing courtyard and offers studio accommodation as well as family rooms and suites. Northfields provides parking for 42 vehicles and over 30 bicycle spaces.
The 800 bed Kooloobong site is specifically designed to accommodate undergraduate students across three eight storey buildings. The buildings overlook two large courtyards, naturally enclosing and defining the outdoor space as private. The on-site car parks provide parking for 116 vehicles and over 50 bicycle parking spaces. The three buildings are connected via covered walkways to encourage interaction of the students whilst allowing each building to have a separate identity through careful facade design and palette selection.
